Contemporary Art Reflecting Textile Traditions
Vienna, Bucharest, Zagreb
The Artists for Artists Residency Network (AFAR) project focuses on relevant themes with both social and aesthetic impact, such as redefining the human-nature relationship, human life in the digital age, and sustainable textiles. The residency program, which took place in urban areas (Bucharest and Zagreb) and in regions with local textile traditions (Maramureș County and Mulhouse), emphasized creating art through traditional techniques like weaving, embroidery, and tapestry. This artistic exploration was directed toward ecologically sustainable practices and sought to bridge local traditions with contemporary art through textile artworks. The results of this residency are highlighted in three traveling exhibitions held in Vienna, Bucharest, and Zagreb.
The AFAR Network project is co-funded by the European Union: ”Views and opionions expressed are however those of the autohor(s) only and do not necessarily reflect those of the European Union. Neither the European Union nor the granting authority can be held responsable for them.”
